Mekane Selam Sunday School Message

Our Sunday School was founded and started serving in May 2014. The Sunday school was founded by a group of young people and parishioners in the Dallas area.

In the beginning, the Sunday school had around 4-6 members, but now it has about 25 permanent members. The Apostle St. Paul in his letter to Rome in verse 12:2 says “Keep in mind your Creator in the days of your youth.” This verse is especially true when looking at the current state of our Sunday School. A Sunday school plays an important role in its respective parish. With the formation of Tewahedo Churches in countries outside of Ethiopia, the Sunday School plays a vital role in aiding the Church by solving different problems of the Church, sharing its joys, and defending the church against attacks. His Holiness Abune Theophilos, the former Second Patriarch, fought and helped establish Sunday school in our country. Abune Theophilos also played a great role in supporting the establishment of youth spiritual associations in every church.
